Our Story

Rebecca’s journey with poultry began in 2015 while living in Vermont, when she brought home her first Tractor Supply chicks—Red Sex Links. It didn’t take long for her to fall in love with chickens, soon adding Barred Rocks to her growing flock. This marked the beginning of her passion for breeding. Though incubation came with its challenges, it quickly became a favorite part of the process. The excitement and anticipation of hatch day proved to be irresistible.
 

Just a year after entering the world of backyard poultry with hatchery birds, Rebecca discovered rare breeds such as Icelandics and Silverudd Blues. These unique birds sparked her interest in rare breed preservation and launched her journey into conservation-focused breeding. However, after two dedicated years, life circumstances required her to step away from breeding.
 

In 2024, now living in Connecticut, the opportunity arose to return to what she loved. After careful research, she chose to bring in a new breed: the Appenzeller Spitzhauben. The breed exceeded her expectations, and she quickly formed a deep connection with them. Wanting to expand her work with rare and endangered breeds, she introduced several others to her flock. Among them, the Shetland Hens captured her heart.
 

Today, Rebecca is joined in this endeavor by her partner, Ian, who has embraced this new chapter with enthusiasm and curiosity. Although new to the world of chickens, Ian has quickly become an integral part of the journey. He has taken a keen interest in every aspect of poultry care—from daily flock management to learning the intricacies of breeding and incubation. His support, engagement, and growing knowledge have enriched the experience and strengthened their shared commitment to preserving rare and heritage breeds.
 

Together, Rebecca and Ian look forward to sharing these exceptional chickens with their community and promoting the conservation of these unique breeds for generations to come.
