Shetland Hens
Shetland Hens are a rare and endangered landrace breed known for their beautiful blue to green eggs and their rich genetic diversity.
As a true landrace, Shetland Hens come in an incredible variety of colors and patterns, making each bird a one-of-a-kind individual. No two are ever quite the same. They are social, curious, and gentle birds. Due to the size of their tappits (crest) creating limited visibility, they can be a bit flighty with quick, sudden movements. In addition, Shetland Hens typically rank lower in the pecking order as they tend to be very sweet and non-confrontational. They love to forage and explore, though they are not particularly predator-savvy and do best in secure environments.

Olive Eggers
Our Olive Eggers have been thoughtfully developed by breeding a Shetland Hen rooster with Black Copper Marans hens. These breeds were chosen with intention: our Shetland rooster carries the green egg gene, which, when combined with the rich, dark chocolate egg color of the Black Copper Marans, helps produce beautifully deep olive-colored eggs.
This is a newly developed crossbreed on our farm, and we’re especially excited about the characteristics we predict these birds to express. We anticipate these Olive Eggers to display adorable crests and feathered legs, giving them a more unique, eye-catching appearance than the typical Olive Eggers that derive from Ameraucanas.
With their striking looks and richly colored eggs, these Olive Eggers are a wonderful blend of beauty, novelty, and purpose. They are perfect for anyone looking to add something truly unique to their flock.
